    This Manaia has been intricately carved from some very interesting two toned  black Jade from south Australia, its face and neck being black/dark green fading to a pale grey/green.

     

    The Manaia is a creature of Māori legend which is said to protect the wearer from harm and negative engery.

    They are also beleived to protect certain natural areas.
